Parsing the city
Ordinarily I am not driven to photograph anything but people, but now and again I get the urge to go out and take the world I live in apart. I suppose I should have some impressively artistic reason for doing this – which, in less appealing terms, means filling some physcological need – and perhaps I do, but if that is the case my reasons are hidden from me. I don’t consider photos like this creations per se, but interpretations and renderings. I am not making anything, only selectively recording someone (or something) else’s creation. I can manipulate the image in the camera, in the darkroom, or in the computer and say I am creating a photograph – but that’s not the same as creating the content in the photograph. I don’t consider photos of this nature to have less value as images than photos where I create a scene and photograph it. In one instance I am saying something about something, in the other I am saying something.
Architect’s Model
I have always been amused by this lens effect (or in this case, mock lens effect). I grabbed this shot from the balcony of a location I was shooting in recently and knew before I clicked that I needed to do this effect on it. I have done this once before although I have misplaced that image, but I think twice is enough. Like sunsets, these kinds of shots are more fun to make then they are to look at.
Fujiroid
Just working my way through leftover Fuji instant film. It’s deterioration is not as fun as the Polaroid I shot with; mostly just a color cast, but I still like the shot.

Shadows
Shadows. It’s a good thing they were invented because I would be back to learning the piano without them.
Mane Attraction
Here’s a shoot about hair, and the extraordinary talents of Liz Dungate
